University of Grace

Institute of Grace’s primary ministry is educating the youth of Haiti. Most people in Haiti do not have the privilege of obtaining a good education and thereby lack the knowledge to have a good job and a promising future. Institute of Grace aims to bring education to those who can’t afford it in a place where it is very hard to find.

University of Grace is located at Delmas 24, Rue Bonnet #22B, Port-au-Prince Haiti. The University Program was started with 80 students in January 2001. Fifty students enrolled in Theology and twenty in computer Science. At present the University offers classes in 4 Disciplines, Theology, Computer Science, Accounting, and Business Administration. The first graduating class was held in June 2006. Institute of Grace is working toward adding more disciplines in a very near future.

Church

Church Planting

Institute of Grace in conjunction with the Faith Clinic International Church, Lanham Maryland is involved in planting churches in Haiti. In June 2006 ten of the graduates of University of Grace were ordained as Pastors. Two of the ordained were placed to the local Churches in Port-au-Prince and some of them have started a church in their home town. In June 2007, five of the graduates were ordained as Pastors and one as Evangelist.

Many of the graduates would like to become missionaries in foreign countries and are waiting for the opportunity to serve. The Institute is hoping that more churches from the United States and Canada can join the Institute in its effort to win Haiti for Christ and to participate in the Great Commission.

Institute Hospital Project

A Hospital Project was started in September 2005 in Merger, a town located on the southern part of Port-au-Prince. There is no hospital, no school, and no drinking water in the town. When somebody is sick, they have to travel about 30 minutes to a Hospital in Port-au-Prince or Leogane to get help, and a few people have died on their way to the hospital.

Due to the lack of proper medical facilities, the Institute Hospital Project is very welcome in Merger. The first phase of this project is to complete two floors (about 34 rooms) and to start operating the hospital. The anticipated time to complete the first phase is June 2008. Children & Charity International is embarking on a Clean Water and Energy project for the Hospital and Merger community.

Merger Primary and Secondary School

Institute of Grace is seeking to raise $130,000 to build a school for the children of Merger. Merger is a town located in the southern part of Port-au-Prince with an approximate population of 100,000 people. Eighty percent of the people are children ages 0-24.

The people in Merger desperately need a good school for their children. Children that go to school will have to travel to Carrefour or Leogane. If it is raining while children are in school parents worry about the safe return of their children because of raging water coming from the mountains. The people in Merger have already donated the land to Institute of Grace to build the school for their children.
